What thoughts do you have about teaching in diverse classrooms?
I think educating people's mine on diversity in the classroom leads to better awareness, it eliminates racism, helps fights against biasses, and make people face their prejudice. We all have a unique cultural identity that defines our core values, and beliefs that has been taught to us since birth. Cultures vary from each other and this creates a rich diversity in the classroom. A classroom full of students from different backgrounds is very beneficial. It helps people learn and understand and appreciate other cultural differences, as they develop responsiveness of their cultural beliefs. When as students we learn the importance of diversity, we are then able to fight against racism in the classroom and our world. A diverse institution or classroom includes students of diverse ethnicities, and races. Having diversity in the classroom ensures there is no room for racism.

I agree that it is beneficial for the other students as well to learn about other cultures that they may not ever have the chance to experience. I really enjoy teaching about my culture and learning the Japanese culture as well. It's really interesting to show these young Japanese minds that foreigns are not scary, and we have a lot of

Phoebe Shively Migration, Globalization, and Education November 27, 2016 Educational Improvements for Immigrant Students The composition of American public schools has evolved, and the education system is struggling to accommodate the diversity of the student population. Imagine starting a new school, in a new state, maybe even a new country. On the first day of class looking around, seeing you 're the only one whose skin color is not white, you’re the only one with dark curly hair, and you 're the only one who “doesn’t belong.” Upon entering the classroom you hear comments like “It 's a Mexican”, “Do you even speak English?”, “How did you cross the border?” That 's what students like Natalia Martinez, Genesis Garcia, Kendrick Rosado, and I had to deal with when starting a new school. Students have taken it upon themselves to decide where someone is from and how they got here.…

Diversity is one of many things that I believe a college should have. In order to meet the needs of all students, a school should be diverse in many different areas. One of these areas being in the classroom. No one learns the exact same way as another student, so I believe that classrooms being diverse with the ways they teach are very important in the learning process. Another area that a college should be diverse in is the classes, activities, and clubs that they offer.…

Intro As I walk into the halls of my college campus expecting to become a woman who makes a difference in this world I never thought that the color of my skin would put me in a place of defense. Attending a class that teaches students how to become culturally responsive should make me feel comfortable to be on a campus with such diversity. As I sat in this class I felt so small and defensive as the class room spoke their true feelings about those that are white. I was verbally attacked while being told that I couldn’t be trusted because I am white. I mentally crawled into a shell and am now doing what I have to do just to get through this class, with anticipation for it to just be over.…
