Diversity In Cleveland

In today’s time, most people fail to realize that everyone is not from the same place. We all have different backgrounds that influence the way that we talk, think, and live. I was raised in a rural town in the Mississippi delta called Ruleville. Most people would consider it as the country because it is an extremely small town sounded by open fields. Most of the fields are used for farming and some of the others are just private land. There are no supermarkets like Walmart or Walgreen. However, there are small business ran by the locals. There are only two restaurants which are subway and churches. We also have two gas stations. There are no large buildings and businesses. In my experience the town is more populated with blacks whose families …show more content…
Yes, Cleveland has two high school, however, the city’s population is not big enough for two high schools. East Side is a predominately black school and there is also Cleveland High which was predominately white. When I first decided to go to school in Cleveland I wanted to go to Cleveland High because people made East Side out to be as bad as the East Side off the movie. However, without a choice I ended up going to East Side and once there I had my first cultural experience with the ideal of white …show more content…
I was very uncomfortable but I didn’t let it bother me. By the end of the semester, I still did not know any of their names and I had never had a conversation with any of them. One particular experience was when I was paired with a white male student for a biology experiment and we barely discussed anything. He seemed as if he was more uncomfortable about the situation more than I was. I can say that I could blame the lack of diversity in my other schools that prevented me and still prevents me from working effectively with people of the opposite race. Other culture that I had come across while in high school influenced me to be more open minded and increased my curiosity about other people in the world. I think I ended up learning more about people from different cultures through the different restaurants they ended up building in the area. Once I started making acquaintance with some new people I started to ask more questions and in return they did the

The United States was founded upon the principle of democracy. In fact, the binding behind all aspects of American government is an important document known as the Constitution of the United States of America that states all policies and principles necessary in order to structure a democratic governmental system. Democracy can be summed up by one important phrase present in the United States Constitution: “We the people…” and when the people change, political structure and policy must adjust to meet the needs of an increasingly diversified population (“The Constitution of the United States” 3). One state which exemplifies a rapid diversifying of a population is the southern states of Texas. Texas has long since been a state known for its diversity,…

In the area I live in, there is a mix of many different cultures. I’ve lived in the same area for almost 14 years and I've seen different culture groups grow and others slowly decrease. The language the was usually heard when I first moved in has also changed throughout the years and has had an impact on the type of people I now interact with on the daily basis. With the different cultures growing and moving into the neighborhood I live in I have begun to see a change in the type of local shops, clothing, and food. Even at the local schools, I can see the changes in culture and how schools try to have better interactions with the children.…

How can our government be benign if we depend from it as much as it depends from us, the citizens? I don’t think it would be a good idea to aggravate the general population that in a way has much more power than the government it self. I feel like if there would be a day were the government would take advantage of its people, then that would be the day when the people of this country would stand against its government. In any matters where the people feel aggravated by its government am pretty sure the people will have a solution, and if that solution is to overwrite the way our government works then we shall do it. But talking about how or government treats us is very pleasant compared to other countries that only utilize they’re citizens to exploited them in hard labor…

Cultural Diversity in Chicago According to the Book “Lost Chicago”; the recorded history begins with two extraordinary Frenchmen, Jacques Marquette, and Louis Jolliet. In 1673, on their way back to Green Bay, following their exploration of the Mississippi, Marquette and Jolliet crossed the Chicago portage. “They found the countryside along the Illinois River rich and full of promise.” In July of 1803, Captain John Whistler, under orders from General Henry Dearborn, came to Chicago to build it.…
