As a social worker, I believe understanding cultural diversity is learning to respect different cultures. There are a variety of human societies that exist in the world which a social worker learns to embrace to be of aid to their clients. Diversity as a wide component is a tricky thing to understand because it has both negative and positive effects on society such as education, violence and employment. Research has shown a lack of unity between races, sexes, and cultures due to mistrust, stereotyping and more within-cultural conversations and language problems.
