Diversity and obstacles lead to success and enlightenment. College students come from different backgrounds, but Philadelphia scholars are resilient and persistent survivors. Philadelphia is a diverse city where many different cultures coexist. Transitioning from a diverse public high school to a predominantly white private university this year, I learned the importance of understanding and embracing other cultures because it allowed me to become a more well-rounded person. I realized my job as a recent Philadelphia public high school alumni is to become a mentor to the students. I would say being a Philadelphia scholar, I learn to embrace diversity, overcome my obstacles, and realize the importance of helping other Philadelphia high school
