Diversity, Multiculturalism, and Globalization
When you take a look at our county today you find that it is very diverse and it is a mixture of different cultures and ethnic backgrounds. What do I mean when I say diverse? Well think about when it comes to diversity it can be defined into four different characteristics. It seems that culture and race have always been an issue and probably always will be. However, they are so intertwined that the lines get crossed at times. This paper will focus on Diversity, Multiculturalism and Globalization and some the issues that arise when dealing with diversity issues.

Gender identity is personal, and how one chooses to express oneself is completely up to that person. What does it mean to be transgender, Adams (2015) “Transgender is an “umbrella term” used for people whose gender identity differs from their sex at birth, according to CNN.” In this country we tend to not accept people if their views of gender identity doesn’t align with ours. People at times choose to change their gender identity, and we must be willing to learn and accept the differences of others even if it’s different than our own. One example of gender identity that has played out over social media over the past year has been the identity change of Bruce Jenner. Bruce Jenner stunned the nation with his gender reveal. Bruce was born a man, but changed his gender identity to a woman. By doing this he shocked the world and also educated us on the subject and taught us about acceptance in people and things that are …show more content…
Race is specific to how we look it’s our features, skin color, hair color and the physical characteristics of an individual. Race can be shared, and most individual aren’t just one race, but because of skin color we are characterized by what people see. Often times we are characterized and frowned upon because of our religious beliefs. I may have the same ethnicity, race, and gender characteristics as my neighbor, but my religious beliefs may be different. For this many Americans have found themselves in situations of discrimination. The difference between cultural diversity and racial diversity is culture is the beliefs, actions and traditions in a group of people. Racial diversity is determined by the blood the genes of an individual or group of people. Culture has nothing to do with the genetics or biology of an individual. Culture leans towards a person’s belief system or values. Race is driven off the genetic s of that individual or group of individuals. All these characteristics affect our economy in some way.
