According to research done by UC Berkeley has stated that heartbreaks can hurt you physically, but love can also be a pain killer for people. A lot of people even give up their whole lives for a certain person, and end up planning to spend it with the person that they are in love with, which is basically what marriage is, and this idea is the center of motivation for a many concepts. The “American Dream” is an example of this idea. The “American Dream” is essentially the goal to be financially stable, a white picket fenced home, a dog, and essentially a family with two children. The millions of immigrants, starting from the early 1800’s, came to America with the pursuit of having their family live in America, and be successful. The idea of love has persuaded these immigrants, for example, to live in a completely different country for the sake of being at peace for their own sake, and for their family’s sake. People even say that falling in love changes you, and blinds you from the true reality of events going on. You can use abusive relationships as an example of the ignorance that love causes. People that are in abusive relationships, as Time magazine has stated that the only reason why they go back to those relationships is because they keep waiting and waiting for the next positive event to go on, that it’s almost like gambling. The most well-known activist for human rights, known as Martin Luther King Jr., started a revolution for the African Americans, and minorities alike, to fight back from the oppression that they were suffering during the 50’s and 60’s. People were afraid to speak up for themselves at the time, and King took initiative and wasn’t afraid to speak up, delivering the powerful “I Have a Dream” speech, that through his adversity, helped inspire people to bring change upon society. Even though African Americans, and minorities alike, would get beaten, killed, and imprisoned for fighting back what was right, their passion for change because of what they suffered overcame the fact that they would get punished for what they did. People now, due to what they go through, whether it’s having our environment deteriorating by pollution, corruption in our government, or exploitation of people, we fight have learned to fight for good change.
