Firstly, I prefer to use the technique of grouping students together in a classroom. Pairing up is helpful too, but to divide the students in groups of three encourages group discussions about the topic. More minds together come up with more ideas and more solutions to a single problem. Many times, I deliberately shuffle friends with other groups to maintain an unbiased and favor-free environment during discussion. However, I don’t get too strict with the shuffling as it minimizes comfort zone. A balance must be made while selecting groups of students. Whenever the need arises, I shuffle the groups as well. This strategy, to group students together, helps to the point where students cooperate and trade thoughts with each other. This way they can grasp and retain the material better by discussion rather than simply memorizing the subject at home alone. In this strategy, we studied a literary text and then assigned the students a written assignment to rewrite the text according to their own style and idea. When the same topic was seen through the perspective of many students, we swapped and exchanged papers and read others’ writing styles for better understanding of the same text.
