Diverse Learners While learning about diverse learners I have come to realize that I need to use different strategies to identify students needs and welcome all types of learners. Teachers should not only know the subject material but know different ways to accommodate the learning styles of all their students. It usually is fairly easy to identify the learning styles of a student. But, you need to know the strategies to help you recognize these different learning styles. According to the Colorado Department of Education, Colorado Quality Teacher Standard ll: Teachers will establish a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for a diverse population of students. An example is, a child that is malnourished, possibly due to poverty, they can’t buy food let alone the supplies needed for school. The teacher could try keeping protein bars for children who haven’t eaten, also some school supplies for children who can’t afford the supplies needed. I knew that there are many ways to help you identify what learning style a child has. But I didn’t know how many things that could affect your learning style. I also didn’t know how many learning styles there were before we learned about diverse learners. I now understand how crucial it is for a teacher to know how to identify each and every learning style. It will not only benefit the teacher to know all the learning styles of their students but also benefit all the kids so they can get the most out of themselves and the teacher. I now understand that not knowing all of the different strategies or possible learning styles can affect the way each child learns and how successful they can
