Divergent—Book vs. Movie In the first of the Divergent series, there are several differences between the movie and the book. These differences prove to make the book more enjoyable to readers. It is a typical thing in literature for a book to be more enjoyable to the reader than the movie will be as the reader has the freedom to decide what his own scenes look like. The book is superior to the movie in that the representations of violence are less in most ways than in the book.…

The movie was basically just like the book it’s like they took the book and used the book as the Script. The characters some were what i thought they would look but some weren’t like lennie he look bigger than i thought and George looked smaller than i imagined. Overall i liked the movie the only characters i really didn’t like was curly and his wife. His wife i felt bad for because she was stuck on the ranch always in the house and if she went out of the house then it was “oh are you cheating on me or trying to flirt with other men”. I really don’t like curly because right off the bat he was rude and immature to lennie and lennie…

There seems to be a bombardment of young adult novel-to-film waves that simply won’t quit. Harry Potter took the world by storm, followed shortly thereafter by Twilight and The Hunger Games. Now, we have an array of watered down look-a-likes, which include but are not limited to Divergent, The Maze Runner, and array of failed experiments (Ender’s Game, The Host, The Giver, etc.). With that, we come to The 5th Wave – an appropriate title that seems to indicate exactly what’s happening in the cinematic sci-fi teen genre. Wave after wave after wave… But, like the title of this film, itself, The 5th Waves feels like a necessary turning point for specific films of this nature – a turning point that indicates its time to put an end to all this…

Movies often portray the happenings of current culture – the current issues society is facing, the current fears and dreams society has, and the current messages producers feel the public should know. The Maze Runner, a film directed by Wes Ball and released in 2014, depicts a group of teenage boys who have lost their memory and must work together to escape the life-threatening maze they have been trapped in. Government versus society is the main idea this movie presents. The different ideas that contribute to the opposition that is created in this film are that the government regulates what information they reveal to the public, society has to work together for a good environment, and the government is constantly changing.…

Divergent is a young adult Dystopian novel written by Veronica Roth, a college student. After its release by HarperCollins Children’s Books in 2011, it was an immediate success, seeing as a mere college student had quite the critic for society in pages containing the story of Beatrice Prior, a teenage post-Chicago resident in an “Utopian” society, struggling with abnormality upon not conforming with the restrictions placed on metaphysical individuality. Evidently, those who could see that were eventually outnumbered, thus bringing Roth’s work the wrong kind of attention. Upon the fandom’s mass expansion, the Divergent movie was quickly brought about in 2014, excessively adding cliches to those presented in the book, science fiction guidelines…
