Have you ever wondered why people are unaccepted? To be accepted is a common thing that rings through books, like the books Divergent and the girl that only had 2 arms and 2 legs. In the book Divergent, people are always nagging on each other. This also appears in the short story “The girl that had only 2 arms and 2 legs.” You may not realize it reading it, but they are very alike. In both stories, they all need to accept each other. That’s the common theme that rings through both of the amazing stories. If you take the book “Divergent”, the writer wants to teach that you need to learn how to “Be accepting” to have a good life. The protagonist Tris turned Dauntless. People try to kill her so many times. Along with that, even if you were Abnegation and turned Dauntless you were made fun no matter who in the world you are. Three people then try to keep pushing her off a cliff, really for no apparent reason, beside they just didn’t accept her for who she was. Once, she was the best on the board, people once again just hated her because she was simply better than them, which isn’t a good reason to not accept someone. …show more content…
A girl ( the protagonist), Quarta was bullied and bullied her whole life, and not accepted because she had a very bad deformity. With half the amount of arms and legs as everyone else that would be very hard. Especially in high/middle school. Quarta isn’t the only one that is like a “super freak” according to the text there is also a kid named Shay he is also deformed to where he can not use two out of four of his arms, but he on the other hand is the only one who understands Quartas pain. She really tries to be normal and accepted but she just isn’t. This short story and the book up there prove my point that the author wants us to know, man, we have to be

Acceptance makes the world go round. Many problems we have in the world today are caused by people not accepting one another. Some examples of these problems are racism, war, terrorism, and denying people’s personal freedoms. Without acceptance the world would be filled with even more hatred and hostility than there already is. “Texas v Johnson Majority Opinion” written by William J. Brennan, “My So-Called Enemy” directed by Lisa Gossels, and “What, of This Goldfish, Would You Wish” written by Etgar Keret all give lessons on acceptance and show why it is important.…

Opinions are the beliefs of people based on their knowledge, views, and preconceived notions about a subject. For every opinion there is another contradicting view, which leads most people to create doubt as to whether their beliefs are true. It is difficult for people to ignore a crowd of voices which repeat the same thing, so they doubt their own way of thinking. The human mind tends to always believe what others have to say and go along with the crowd as a desperate attempt to feel special and loved instead of alone and a parah. Lucy Grealy’s Autobiography of a Face describes her struggle to feel accepted by her peers after losing three-quarters of her jaw due to childhood cancer.…

Such as teenagers may face peer pressure to do certain activities that may not be right to them, but do it anyways, because they want to fit in. Processing change can be a difficult task but in order for one to truly complete a change it is crucial for them to accept themselves and their new life style. Many events ranging from wars to elections have influenced American history as the American public knows today. Even though these events have been set in stone and are in-erasable from America’s past, they can be interpreted in a vast multitude of ways. There are also always two sides of a story, and one cannot fully develop an opinion on a specific topic without having knowledge that pertains to each side. With this in mind, it is only logical to apply a comparison between Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States and Larry Schweikart’s a Patriot’s History of the United States. More specifically, the difference in American foreign policy on the Vietnam War.…

It is often said that teenagers begin discovering themselves in high school, but I did the opposite- I lost myself. The source of my pleasure and delight shifted from books to parties, writing to boys, and video-games to my social life. Something within me desperately craved to be normal- to no longer be the girl that gets harassed and ostracized for being an “appalling nerd” and because of this, vital aspects of my personality began to change and I morphed into an entirely different person. Through this journey, I learned that my self-hate was a catalyst for self-love and appreciation. Having always been considered an unusual girl in the eyes of my peers, I'd never been truly comfortable in my skin.…
