Methamphetamine is a powerful drug that has grown greatly over the past five years, specifically in Franklin County. Methamphetamine is the most commonly used drug in Franklin County. Meth negatively effects families, jobs, and their health and it needs to come to a stop. After researching, I recommend helping the problem of drug abuse by having a fundraiser to raise awareness in our community, because it is a wicked problem and people are ruining their lives. Statistics show that Franklin County was the worst county for drug abuse especially Methamphetamine. In 2014 the rate for meth busts in Franklin County was twenty-one busts over the course of a year. In 2015 there are one hundred eighty one meth busts in Missouri (By the Numbers).

An example would be depression, anxiety, agitation, and etc (Sack). They use drugs to amend those feelings that they are experiencing. If someone has been experiencing stress in the life, they think drugs will help relieve the problem. Once that person have been abusing these drugs, they become addicted to it and does not want to quit. If a person is hooked on the drug, it will start to destroy them significantly. People think drugs are a solution, but it becomes a problem. Now their lives are falling apart because of drugs. The more gripped they are with drugs their work life are affected by drugs. “According to National Survey on Drug Use and Health shows that 17% of unemployed workers had a substance abuse disorder last year, whereas 9% of full-time workers did. One solution would be creating a fundraiser to raise awareness for drug abuse. If we chose to have a fundraiser for a solution to end drug abuse. We would have the event at a high traffic location where there are a lot of people visiting frequently. I would have a bake sale with all sorts of baked goods and candy to raise money for the National Council of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. It is a good organization that helps people who have drug abuse related problems by providing counseling for individuals that need assistance. “One of the NCADA’s major goals is to teach young people the skills needed to resist the pressures to use and abuse drugs. We offer proven, evidence- and best-practices-based curricula for every grade from K-12 in nearly 300 schools in the region” (About Us). There will brochures about the NCADA available with: information for teens that need assistance for drug addiction, information for parents that have a teen who is abusing drugs, and phone numbers for parents who have questions about the
