The neglected person in America is the black woman.” In the quote above is Malcolm x thinking of women in society and he sees the mistreatment, disrespect, and negligence society has for women. In the song “Keep Ya Head Up” Tupac also says: “aiyyo, I remember Marvin Gaye, used to sing ta me he had me feeling like black was the thing to be and suddenly the ghetto didn’t seem so tough and though we had it rough, we always had enough.” (Lines#32-35) In the quote above Tupac is telling the women who are having a rough time in their relationship or been abandoned by their men with a baby with them and with no one to help them with their financial needs, and so Tupac is telling them what kept him through the ghetto, which Marvin Gaye songs made Tupac as a child forget what was happening in his environment and with Marvin Gaye songs things were much better. Tupac now is doing the same thing he wants to help women feel better and get them through their problem with his song telling them it is all going to be alright, similar to the way Marvin Gaye helped Tupac get through his rough times. Tupac Shakur understood very well the problem of women in society, and so he made songs for women and the song “Keep Your Head Up” is one of those songs he wrote Tupac inspired women gave them hope that things are going to be okay throughout the song he has many verses that gave women inspiration as he start off the song by saying “I give a holler to my sisters on welfare Tupac cares, if nobody else cares” Tupac is telling the women out there on welfare because they needed help from something because they had a child and no dad as Tupac mentions, he says: ‘you know what makes me unhappy (what 's that) when brothas make babies, and leave a young mother to be a pappy.”
