Distinctively Visual Analysis Of The Three Clocks

A dream like element of this painting is the three clocks. The clocks are melting, dripping, and in a liquid form, while we know clocks to be hard brittle, and a solid. Another dream like element of the painting is that a tree is growing out of the table, because trees only grow out of dirt. As a viewer, I was forced to look at time form a different perspective. Time in this painting is unpredictable, flowing on the page, which highly contrasts from our modern society's view of time as a constant. I was also confused as to how a tree could possibly grow out of a table, and I had to question natural laws. Overall, all of the dream like aspects of the piece forced me to question things I though of as “natural”. The main image that stands out

The composition is asymmetrical and is a good example of tenebrism because you can see the spotlight coming from the top left hand corner. The light could symbolize divinity, as seen in Calling of Saint Matthew by Caravaggio, because the light source is hidden. This is a literal “breakfast scene” with a variety of Krispy Kreme donuts and Starbucks coffee. Sugar and coffee can be addicting which can symbolize obesity in America.…

I am visiting the serene city of Chatou, in north-central France where I have had the opportunity to view an Impressionist work of art by Pierre-Auguste Renoir that he painted in 1881 with oil on canvas titled Luncheon of the Boating Party. If you have a chance to visit Chatou, I highly recommend it. Chatou is a long, narrow island in the midst of the River Seine and is a nice getaway from the crowds in Paris. You can travel to Chatou by taking a flight into Paris and then taking a short train ride to get here. Many flights leave from Houston in the late afternoon so you would fly all night and arrive in Paris early the next morning.…

From the era of invention to the Jazz age, there has been a plentiful amount of beautiful and meaningful pieces of art produced. "The Prodigal Son" by Aaron Douglas, and "Les Demoiselles d 'Avignon" by Pablo Picasso are two examples of art from these time periods. By reading into these paintings it 's possible to grasp the artist 's feelings and thoughts along with an understanding of life, and how the social climates were during their time periods. Even though they 're separated by two different generations, these paintings share plenty of similarities even with all of the technological and social differences of their time periods.…

The painting I chose was Frank Stella’s “Flin Flon VIII”. It is an acrylic piece on canvas characterized by a mixture of curving and straight lines that interlock, vibrant colors, and an emphasis on the circle in the middle of the canvas. A huge quantity of negative space is present in the painting and the painting emits a smooth texture. The painting is one hundred and eight inches squared, making it one of the largest paintings in the San Diego Art Museum. Its size projects itself on the viewer overwhelming them with its color and size.…

The concept of time is no stranger to the educated man and woman. In fact, it has become a god for most. It is the ruling entity by which all things are measured and given meaning. But romantic poets questioned and challenged this god. Blake, Wordsworth, and others alike did not believe that time was an absolute ruler, but rather that it was a malleable object tied to the individual and influenced by his or her human imagination.…

As a concept that transcends human constraint, time is an everlasting force within the surrounding environment. Although the revolution of time, in terms of hours, minutes, and seconds, was developed by humans, time essentially represents the daily repetition of sunlight. Ancient civilizations used sunlight to predict the time and season. Event in modern civilizations, time is still widely accepted as a hindrance upon the human ability. When the sun goes down, the status quo is for the human population to rest in anticipation of the return of sunlight the following morning.…

In this essay I will compare and contrast using contextual factors two murals. The first is Emperor Justinian, Bishop Maximus and Attendants, a mosaic on the wall of the Sanctuary in Italy from the Byzantine era. The second being Raphael 's School of Athens, found on the wall of the Apostolic Palace, Rome painted during the Renaissance. Emperor Justinian, Bishop Maximianus and Attendants, was created for religious purposes, as was a lot of the art produced during the early Byzantine Empire. In 324 CE Constantine ‘ the Great’ was a Christian emperor who set up Constantinople, originally Byzantine, a city in the east as another city to rule Christianity from, alongside the capital Rome.…

For nine stanzas the clocks drone on about how humankind cannot “conquer Time,” (24) and that the eventual “glacier” of death “knocks,” or overcomes, “the cupboard,” which is the material (41). This is an odd way to explain the constant and slow pursuit of death, seeing as a glacier is in a manmade cupboard. The clocks explain that “[…] the crack in the tea-cup opens / A lane to the land of the dead” (43-44). Even manmade things will break and meet their death just like its human creators will. The clocks go on to sing of how through life’s pains and the aging process, unavoidable death is the end of every person, no matter how strong his or her love, because “Vaguely life leaks away” (9.2).…
