Juanita worked as a maid at the Fort Myers Hotel in the 1970s. Juanita took stand at her murder trial of the beating death of 73-yr old Inez Kelly. Inez Kelly lived at the hotel. Juanita Maxwell had one altar named Wanda Weston. When brought into questioning she said she didn't remember a lot about it. Juanita lent Inez a pen. When Juanita asked for the pen back Inez slammed the door at her denying she had borrowed the pen. Later she knocked on the door and walked in. In questioning the defense attorney had asked to speak to wanda. Juanita bowed her head closed her eyes and a few seconds later Wanda took over. Wanda began giggling and admitting to committing to the crime. The defense attorney asked what happened next and she said “she told me get out of her room. So I picked up the lamp and beat her with it”. One of the psychiatrists testified that “either she had multiple personalities or, if she was faking it, she deserved and Academy award”.
