Being a TCU horned frog feels right for many reasons. TCU affords me the opportunity to move away from my hometown, Waco, it allows me to select from any of the majors I've considered; it provides me all of the resources I need to learn and excel; and it means I get to cheer on one of the best football teams in the nation, all while being in a faith-growing environment. I found, during my campus tour, the aspect I was most impressed by was the TCU spirit. Every student my tour group encountered wore a prideful smile, excitedly greeting their peers and every now and then one would yell a “Go frogs!”.…

Man believes himself to be the most powerful and important creature to walk the earth and disregards those whom he believes to be lesser. In the poem The Death of a Toad by Richard Wilbur the speaker uses specific and connotative diction, a variety of word choice, sentence structure and imagery to prove that every life is significant. The speaker uses polysyllabic words mixed with monosyllabic words in a sentence together to emphasis words of importance. When "...the toad the power mower caught." (line 1)…

Before operating, when intubating, catheterising or positioning a patient, gloves should be worn if there is a chance in coming into contact with bodily fluids. If catheterising, an aseptic technique should be followed closely. Hands can be carriers of Meticillen resistant Staph bacteria and introducing them to an invasive device, such as a urinary catheter, can give the bacteria the opportunity it needs to infect the patient (Mangnall & Watterson, 2006). Hands must be decontaminated with soap and water and an apron should be adorned before carrying out such a procedure. During the procedure a sterile field should be maintained and afterwards the apron should be disposed of correctly into a yellow bin bag and hands must be decontaminated…

Although most people realize that death is a tragic part of life, very few are impacted by deaths outside of anything not considered to be “human”. In his poem, “The Death of a Toad”, Richard Wilbur gives an example to show the unsympathetic actions of humans toward their environment. In the poem, Wilbur gives many depictions of the violence of man and the beauty of the untouched world through his use of imagery as well as somber diction in order to illustrate the ongoing war of nature versus machine. Wilbur begins by using alliteration such as “chewed and clipped” and “hobbling hop” in order to bring to light his first theme: nature versus machine. The toad brings a sense of beauty to the lawn, but after machinery is introduced to “beautify” it, the toad is murdered -- this is a symbol of the end of natural beauty and the beginning of manufactured beauty.…
