Peaceful Setting College, although a private institution, shared aspects of political influence. The college is located in a small college-centric town in a Mid-Western US state with an impression and expectation of academic excellence and higher learning. The college benefited from a substantial endowment that provided them the financial resources to see the institution through difficult financial times (Manning, 2013).
Although the college was not in a current crisis, administrators were concerned the current financial and educational model may no longer be supportable. In an effort to bring change to keep the college financially an educationally viable, the college began to explore innovative ways to approach the education they deliver now and in the future (Manning, 2013).

The discipline that I believe would be the most useful to Peaceful Setting College was “Shared Vision”.
Peaceful Setting College did not appear to initially share the same vision. Peter Senge writes about taking the time early in the change process to have conversations to shape a shared vision. Had Peaceful Setting College took the time early on to collaborate and get input from all involved, they may not have had as much resistance from faculty and administration. It is vital to have a shared vision in order to build common understandings and commitments, allowing those to express their aspirations and hopes and at the same time reducing fears and reservations (Cropper).
Leaders learn to use tools such as ‘Positive Visioning’, 'Concept-shifting’ and ‘Values Alignment’ to create a shared vision, forge common meaning/focus and mutually agree what the learning targets, improvement strategies and challenge-goals should be to get there
