Seeing other women weigh less than one's self creates a need for weight loss in a girl’s head. Low self-esteem is one of the leading causes of eating disorders. If a girl has been teased or bullied due to her weight in the past, that creates a thought that they need to become smaller so that they will no longer be taunted based on their appearance. Spending money on cosmetic products will just give the companies more excuses to create more products which, in turn, will make them more money. Women like Oprah Winfrey, Rebel Wilson, and Rosie O'Donnell have still become successful without obtaining the appearance of stereotypical beauty. The success of these women has been achieved through different methods than most celebrity females. These women have had their careers shaped around their size; furthermore, most actresses with a larger weight play a more comical role that somehow associates with how they look. Even though Oprah Winfrey reached the level of success that she did, she still has had ongoing publicized struggles with her weight. As a result, she has had numerous episodes of her show based on female appearance. Mental illnesses that affect the way someone sees themselves can be genetic. Things like depression can cause women to dislike her appearance, so even though others think she looks normal, she may not believe so herself. As it may be a woman’s choice to change her appearance and not a requirement, it may cause complications in the end due to public and self
