Disney used Norman’s concepts of affordances, signifiers, and feedback to help the patrons use the MagicBand. Affordances refers to the relationship between an object and a person – the Magic Band affords as a seamless experience for the patrons who visit Disney World as they will be able to travel lighter. An example would be that the people would pay their food using this MagicBand as it is connected to their credit card.
The signifier for the MagicBand is the Mickey Mouse logo as it is what you usually scan with (with the access point that has a Mickey Mouse logo on it as well). As long as there is a logo on the access point all the person has to do is align it with the logo on his or her watch. Norman’s concept of feedback helps the patrons
