He was born in Chicago, America in 1901. Walt has liked drawing since he was young, but he couldn’t graduate the art school because of the economic poverty of the family and World War 1. From such an experience, it is said that the Disney movies include an indomitable spirit or idealism unconsciously. In spite of the adversity, he established The Walt Disney Company with his older brother in 1923. He produced many films until he died in 1966, and The Walt Disney Company still brings many hit products. At the time, it is said 240 million people saw the Disney movies, and an average of 100 million people watched the Disney TV program once a week and the box-office receipts of the animated feature films achieved 300 million dollars (Paul Johnson, 1993).
I wondered why the Disney movies are so popular among mass culture. I consider they have two reasons. The first point is the healing effects. This is because there are messages such as security, healing, dream, and hope in the Disney movies. The second point is the lovely characters. The character of Ariel was similar to a woman of the 1990s as for that she wanted to escape from a sense of values and disliked with restraint. It proves that The Walt Disney Company expected the actions of the woman and was conscious of the passage of times. However, from a point that the prince made an Ariel’s wish came true, it was told to be still male superiority.
However, "Enchanted" in 2007 was produced finally. This movie was the combination of live action filmmaking, traditional animation, and computer-generated imagery and there were many scenes where The Walt Disney Company oneself sneered at the characters of the early princesses. In this movie, the princess who just waited for the prince before became an active heroine who climbed the tower to help a prince. Also, the ending has been always marriage, but this ending was that the heroine established her own company; therefore I think that The Walt Disney Company finally overcame the problem about the gender
