In this topic, both the movie and the book have differences and similarities. There are multiple things that are on the movie that are said in the book. Starting with the section where it talks about Eva. Both the movie and the book start off with how the neighborhood is separated by races. It shows how they do things to get accepted. That is something that happens both on the book and in the movie. It shows how her dad is taken away when she was young and it also shows how each race has a different place to hang out and how they each have a name. For example, “Disneyland” is for the whites, “Da Ghetto” is for the blacks, and “Chinatown” is for the Asians, etc. Some scenes from the movie are not mentioned in the book.

He wanted to get out because he felt like he didn’t belong in there, but he resulted in staying and throughout the time they all ended up getting along with each other. One part that didn’t come out in the movie was where 3 gangster approached one of the students and started calling him names. That’s when the student went crazy and kept hitting the guy until his eyes rolled to the back of his head. He was sent to juvenile hall and was there for 5 days.
The part where someone draws a picture of a black person with big lips happens in both the movie and the book. Ms. G gets angry when she sees it and gets the class in trouble. Another part that happened in both the movie was when Ms. G bought books for the students. Everyone got filled with joy when they seen they were new also. The part where one girl stands and says that she was known like if she was going to be a druggie or end up pregnant and drop out also come out in both.
In the movie, Mrs. G and the class actually fundraised for the Holocaust survivor, so she can come visit the class. They were all excited to meet her. It even showed how that Mrs. G sent out letters that the students wrote for the holocaust
