Disney Is A Liar Essay

Disney is a liar! It lies about truths in its media. Furthermore, my topics of argument are social, cultural, and historical aspects of Disney’s media. These are present in High School Musical, Aladdin, and Pocahontas. In order to increase educational value, Disney should improve the accuracy of the social, historical, and cultural aspects of their media. Disney lies about social life of kids and teenagers in their media. Disney’s media stays away from the truths of real social life, and the company needs to improve on the truthfulness of the social aspects of their media. Others may argue that Disney media is a escape to reality, because, it always has a happy ending and lighten up the day. However, the “happy endings” rarely happen is society. An example of this in a movie, is in High School Musical. In High School Musical, all of main characters are the ”popular kids.” Also, the movie does not incorporate the lives of the regular kids and the social outcasts. Disney media does not represent foreign cultures accurately and formulates the idea of the cultures being mean. On the contrary, others may argue that Disney’s media accurately represents cultures. However, that statement is not true. Disney stays away from representing cultures accurately. An example of this is the movie Aladdin. The movie implies the Arabs as terroristic and mean. This is culturally inaccurate because only a small amount of Arabs, along with any other cultural groups, are mean and terroristic. In addition, Disney portrays the main characters as American like, rather than Arab like. The characters speak fluid English and are similar to the average American. Therefore, this story has an American aspect to it instead of an Arab
