A perfect example of the hero journey is Disney Hercules. In this movie The calling to adventure (which also has the Atonement of the father intertwined) is when he discovers that he's the son of Zeus. Which prompts him to want to become as his Father is,a God, and live on Olympus like his father as well. This can also be interpreted as the atonement of the Father. Campbell suggest that the image of god is an archetype of the father and a source of power. In this case this is extremely literal because Zeus is a god and the father, and he is also the most powerful.
The Threshold is when he leaves with Pegasus to find Phil, the satyr, so that he can train him to be a hero. Phil is also his guide, his supernatural aid. Hercules looks up to him
