Cinderella And Snow White Analysis

“Love will find a way, indifference will find an excuse”(Saying Images), love will find its way, whether young or old. In the song: “If I Die Young” and the two fairy tales: “Cinderella and Snow White”, love is involved. All girls are coming of age. It is hard for them to acquire what they want. However, they live happily ever after. In the song: “If I Die Young”, although it is a coming of age story just like the two fairy tales, it is told in first person by the speaker. (Narrator uses pronouns I, and me). For example, she repeats: “If I die young/ bury me in satin/ lay me down on a bed of roses/ sink me in the river at dawn/ send me away with the words of a love song.” (Kimberly Perry) which shows us she is describing something about herself. …show more content…
The narrator is not a character in the story. They are in mercy of the story teller. Meanwhile, Cinderella and Snow White’s parents have been completely removed from the fairy tales. Cinderella’s mother dies, her dad then felt like she needs a stepmother to take care of her. He then dies after getting married. Also in Snow White, both parents are not present. She lives with the queen who is jealous of her beauty wanting to get rid of her any way possible. The fairy tales talk about the relationships and the princes involved. Cinderella falls in love with the prince at the ball party. In the fairy tale “Snow White”, she meets the prince after she makes her wish down the well while singing. When the prince hears her beautiful voice, he approaches her. They then fall in love. Moreover, the fairy tales are different from the song because no threats are made. They are in danger from other people. For example, Cinderella was always mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters, making her do all the chores in the house. They were also jealous of her which was shown when they ripped her dress when it brought their attention. Most of the time, she felt like no one cared about her and could not express her feelings or emotions to anyone. Only the Mice understood her.(Not real human beings) We cannot live with Mice, and they cannot really do all these things they have done in the fairy tale. In Snow White, the queen wants to get rid of her because she is the fairest of them all. She is jealous of her beauty and asks her maid to kill her in the forest. Once she finds out she is not really dead, she changes her disguise, and poisons her with an apple which made her sleep forever until she is kissed by her first love. In both fairy tales, the characters are in danger. The prince charming saves his love. Cinderella is rescued by the prince after the glass shoe fit her, and
