The second maligned strategic decision involves Dish 's constant process of innovation; sometimes it worked with the Hopper DVR which right now is the benchmark in the DVR realm, and the doesn’t work or make sense the DTVPal DVR. The DTVPal was a VCR and a DVR that lacked many of the features found on subscription-based TiVo, DirecTV, satellite DVRs. It simply was a new gadget to bring to the market, and it seems to be a theme for Dish as an industry innovator. The introduction of new technology is a survival tactic used by Dish Network. By adding more technology and products to interact with their TV service and streamline the customers viewing pleasure is to attract new customers but even with this strategy, the problem remains that they are investing more than they are gaining in customers. This type of evaluation could help management understand how assets or product offerings can be developed to expand Dish 's capabilities that would be beneficial to the company in the long term, and what could set Dish apart from their competitors.
