The mentally impaired are often told they are not "fully qualified" (Lopez-Guerra). What exactly does this mean? Not qualified, are we all actually qualified to vote. Think about that, are
the eighteen years olds considered fully qualified to vote. Just because you have to be a certain age to vote, does not make you fully qualified. So why go and exclude the mentally impaired from voting. They have their own thoughts about who they want running the country, so let them vote because what harm could it possibly do. It could not really change the outcome of votes in a dramatic way. Allowing them to vote, will make them feel more included in society.
Lastly we exclude them out in public. Most times when people see the mentally impaired they instantly start judging them, and talking about them behind their back. This is because it makes us feel superior and more important than others. When you do this, I promise you that they, the mentally impaired, feel discouraged and wants to just stay home. Why go out in the public if everyone there is just going to judge you? We need to start accepting them for who they are and make them feel like nothing is wrong with them. So they can live a happy life and feel like there really is nothing wrong with them. You may think this will not be any significance to them, but trust me it will mean so much to them.
