Our assigned article lays a foundation for either beginning or long-practicing Christian therapists on how best to conduct sex therapy with clients. Two main goals of the authors are to strip the taboo surrounding sexual practices and to have therapists’ conduct self-evaluations to explore their own personal feelings and beliefs surrounding sex. One of the two concepts learned is that by discovering your comfort level concerning sex you will be in a better position to assist your clients with their issues. The other concept learned relates to Luke 11:33 for how can we learn and teach about healthy, productive sex if we keep it hidden and never speak about it.

Perhaps this is due to their high volatility and that they make others extremely uncomfortable. However, I do know that ignoring any one of the above three hot topics or any of the other hundreds of hot topics will not make them disperse. Just because you choose not to speak about drugs and alcohol to your teenager does not mean they want partake in them. Turns, Morris, and Lents (2013) assert that “it is important to look at the way [the Bible] has been interpreted and how people have understood what is being said about sexuality” (p. 188). Just as in the above scenario about drugs and alcohol, the Church can take active role in educating about sexual matters to ensure the congregation has at the minimum the Lord’s point of view.
