I will discuss the ‘end of men’ thesis in contrast to what we have learned in three units in this class: gender and the workplace, women in the military, and women as political candidates. Although women are getting degrees at higher rates than men, we haven’t seen this trend translate to major gains in the workforce, particularly at the top. A prominent issue in the United States is sexual discrimination in behaviour, dress code, sexual activity, appearance, and the workplace. Although it is unfair for women to have so many expectations on their appearance, the most problematic element is workplace discrimination.
