Discernment Model Discernment is the process of making careful distinctions in our thinking about truth. In other words, it is the ability to think biblically . Discernment gives Christians ability to decide between truth and error, right and wrong. 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 says that it is the responsibility of every Christian to be discerning: “Put all things to the test: keep what is good and avoid every kind of evil.” Also, the apostle John said about it. He says, “My dear friends, do not believe all who claim the spirit, but test them to find out if the spirit they have, comes from God. For many false prophets have gone out everywhere” (1 John 4:1). By knowing and obeying the word from God I will be trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil and I will be able to know God’s character and will. This will make me develop the heart of spiritual discernment of being able to distinguish the voice from the devil and the voice from God. In addition to that, through him I will be able to know what is right and what is wrong.
I will also increase my discernment by understanding that God is love. By understanding that God is love will help me to do what is right because if I have love in me I will do good things to others. “Love must be completely sincere. Hate what is evil and hold on what is good” (Romans 12:9). Love will help me in decision making and will help not to judge people. I will achieve this by reading Bible for 25 minutes before I go to bed three times a week and every day if possible. I decided to use the bBible because developingment discernment in my life will depend on how much I know Jesus and there is no way you can know him without reading the Bible. I will also attend Bible discussion with my fellow Rwandans that happen every Friday because Jesus said that “where two or three gathered in my name I will come and be with them”. Thisthem.” This will help me because; sometimes we learn from others
