What is discrimination? Discrimination is defined as unfair or unequal treatment of an individual (or group) based on certain characteristics (age, disability, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, etc.) Discrimination of the LGBT community has become a popular world issue since the right to gay marriage was legalized on June 26,2015. LGBT stands for (L)esbian, (G)ay, (B)isexual, and (T)ransgender, and it is made up of people from all races, socio-economic, religious, non-religious, and age backgrounds. Many types of discrimination has taken place including lawful and unlawful which means some of the actions portrayed violate federal and/or state laws that prohibit discrimination. One reasons for the non-supporting individual of the LGBT community is due to religion. Some religious backgrounds do not approve of same sex marriage and/or same sex relations. Some religions that do not approve of LGBT individuals include Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, etc. Due to the fact that we live in The United States of America, we have the right to our own decisions whether to accept things or not to as described in the Bill of Rights. Although everyone does not support the LGBT Community it is a lot of things that should be taken into consideration. One of the few things that should be taken into consideration is people of the LGBT Community are human like everyone else and they have feelings. Due to the fact that they are human and they have feelings, some individuals harm themselves because they are not how people want them to be or they are not accepted by others. Statistics show that most suicides are committed by people of the LGBT Community and they are between the ages of
