One source of information not utilized by Child Protective Services was the information about Mrs. Krasniqi having a brother who was willing to take in the two children. I believe the case would have had a more positive outcome if this source had been further investigated. When asked about placing the children with their uncle the case worker said, I have not, and would never, investigate relative placement in this case, because these people always stay together. (Dallas, 1994, p. 3) Several aspects of life could have stayed the same for the children if they would have been placed with their uncle.…

Discrimination in the Justice System August 9th began as any other day for young Michael Brown of Ferguson, Missouri. Little did he know that walking down the street would end his life in just a blink of an eye. Officer Darren Wilson, who ruined the Brown family and took an innocent life by mistake, will not suffer nor be punished. It is moments like these when society must come to realize the obvious discrimination in the justice system. African Americans, especially, but minorities of all color and ethnicity, have been victim to endless amounts of prejudice.…
The criminal justice system in the United States has increasingly targeted people of color, more specifically African Americans, for crimes that they may have not committed. A huge number of incarcerated African Americans have been wrongfully convicted within the past 20 years. Through the creation of the national police force in 1893, African Americans have had a target on their back. Ever since the establishment of Jim Crows Laws in the 1890s through “separate but equal,” racism has been prominent in society. Through systematic racism, many Americans assume that Africans Americans are more likely to be engaging in criminal activity.…

Research explained to use that racial bias has inflicted capital punishment is a historical figure in our criminal justice system. As a researcher we can see that our system has the method Eye for an Eye philosophy to correct criminal actions. Statically, as research has shown African American’s are more like to revive Capital punishment therefore; their families are inflicted by the death penalty. We all know that males are more likely to commit crimes that inflict capital punishment. However, if an African American commits a crime against another race besides his own he is then more likely to get the death penalty.…
The only credible evidence that there is pointing to a stranger is DNA. The broken window in the basement, is not credible. This is because it is easy to frame someone else by doing this. Another thing is that she actually was never kidnapped, she was in the basement, dead. It would be very hard to slip a body through a window when the whole house was surrounded by cops and people.…
Police departments have often been accused of racial profiling throughout the years. Many times the incidents ended in tragedies that will not be forgotten. This situation has brought up riots that were uncontrollable and everyone just sat back and watched. Although at times assertiveness might be necessary, the police department often uses too much force and are biased on their targeted suspects, because many incidents have already been reported and many ended in lives lost. Instead of feeling good and protected whenever we see a police officer, people feel scared and nervous even when they have done nothing wrong.…
“Nationwide, African-Americans represent 26% of juvenile arrests, 44% of youth who are detained, 46% of the youth who are judicially waived to criminal court, and 58% of the youth admitted to state prisons (Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice).” (NAACP) Is the Criminal Justice Racially biased? In any case of Justice no one system can be completely flawless. The American Criminal Justice System is not perfect and falls short of satisfactory in the case of race and fair treatment, but compared to other systems this system has proven to be effective.…
The Criminal Justice System Is Racist In 2010 the U.S. Sentencing Commission reported that African-Americans received 10% longer sentences than whites through the federal system for the same crimes (11 Facts About Racial Discrimination). The criminal justice system has created and perpetuated a racial hierarchy in the United States. Some Americans are unaware of mass incarceration numbers and racism that occurs in the criminal justice system. Also, African-Americans are criminalized and targeted because of their skin color. It is easy to see that the Criminal Justice System is racist and biased because of high minority incarceration rates, several instances of racial discrimination, and a lack of juries that include minority "peers."…
In Modern day America racial profiling has become a major issue. According to Higgins (2008), profiling is a conglomeration of physical, behavioral, and psychological components that increase the probability of apprehending a suspect. During the 1980s, law enforcement began introducing race as a trait for profiling an individual. This was during the rise of drug use in the United States. Racial profiling allowed law enforcement officials to identify drug couriers.…

In the early 2000s, CBS launched CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, a newer, sleeker crime drama aiming to depict crimes and crime scene investigations as gritty, suspenseful, and glamorous. CSI featured streamlined detective work, flashy forensics, and emotionally-charged interrogations and interviews, all carried out by aloof professionals aiming to crack their respective cases. Most significantly, however, was the fact that CSI – and shows like CSI – feature heavily simplified court scenes. These scenes present incomplete portrayals of the legal system to viewers, where they see emotionally-charged testimonies that instantaneously incriminate perpetrators and win cases.…
The first thing I would do in processing the crime scene is interview the first officer that arrived at the crime scene to establish a theory of the case. Second I would examine the crime scene to see if the theory of the case is substantiated by what I observed. During this time I would start identifying possible items of evidence, identifying entry and exit points and getting a general outline of the homicide scene. Third, I would take some pictures. Photographing the scene would allow me to record a pictorial view of what the scene looked like undisturbed and to record items that is possible evidence.…
