After viewing the entire film it has made me realized that prejudice is not only in the elder and adults. It also occurs in the children as well; it surprised me to see them in the beginning as friends and childhood friends. Then, as the teacher asked them about racism, they seem to know what racism and discrimination was to an extent. They knew the negative terms for African-American around that time and they felt that they did nothing too wrong. When they went through the experiment it was hurtful that the children would separate themselves from one another. Simply because as a child you are told to respect and follow an adults orders regardless if you believe it you should not do it. For the children, they were given a two day experiment, the allowed them to see each side so they can know how it feels to be put at the bottom. The adults were given a one day experience putting the brown-eyed people over the blue-eyed people. The children had to follow their teacher’s orders and demands, which was given to her by the school to conduct the experiment. The adults were told that they are going to be paid for going to the workshop regardless if they stayed or not. Lastly, the children were given school rules such as have extra recess time, drinking from the water fountain, and conducting lessons faster. The adults were told the positive group was allowed to smoke, sit down first, go to certain bathrooms etc... Undeserved Prejudice The sixteenth president of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln, explained that "[w]hatever you are, be a good one. " Lincoln was implying that no matter what skin color you are, you should be the best you can be and be fair to all. Unfortunately, in Harper Lee's To Kill Mockingbird, Tom Robinson, a black man, faces prejudice, because the white men in the jury cannot be their best selves and vote fairly. Though he did not rape Mayella Ewell, a poor white woman, the people of Maycomb county can not look past the fact that Tom is black; he is found guilty and eventually is killed for it.…

¨To Kill A Mockingbird¨ is an good example of both human morals and discrimination. Through symbolism, conflict and characterization Harper Lee illustrates that discriminating against people because they are different is unfair because you haven’t even given them a chance. People are prejudice although slaves were freed by Abraham Lincoln in 1863 by an act called the ¨Emancipation Proclamation¨ people still underestimated blacks and treated them as if they weren’t equal to whites. Harper Lee uses symbolism throughout the book; a symbol she uses is the Radley’s house. The Radleys house was a symbol because people were judging them by the rumors they heard.…

Unfair Discrimination Legal systems are classified as fair and equal to all citizens today, but looking back at past cases such as the dreadful Emmett Till case, and Tom Robinson from “To Kill a Mockingbird” things have really taken a leap from the atrocious treatment against blacks . Legal systems were one of the main bumps in the road when it came to discrimination against blacks. Whether it was a small case, or a huge case things in court always seemed to go in favor of white people. Some say white people just always had that unfair advantage, but it is something people will never know without living in the 30s through the 60s, with major segregation. During this time period court would have a separate place for black people to sit, away from the white people.…

Harper Lee’s “To Kill A Mockingbird” features a lot of discrimination against race, sex, and culture. As Bonnie Hammer once said, “Prejudice and discrimination based on our differences is an unfortunate fact of life”. It is very unfortunate and sad that discrimination is a common occurrence all over the world. Discrimination is shown when the townspeople bullied Atticus’ children for him defending Tom Robinson. It is also shown when Mr. Dolphus Raymond has to pretend to be drunk so he won’t be judged for marrying a black woman.…
