Seitz is right when he explains that the people of color are stereotyped to being helpers to white men. This is because of the fear that the public might react negatively if it was the other way around. For example, In the green mile the, Michael Clarke Duncan was there to save the white peoples’ diseases with his magic and despite that the white men in the prison decided to electrocute him to death. This was because he was a tall black man that was wrongly accused of killing two white girls which became something really hard to get out of since he was a black man in the 1930s. If Michael C. Duncan was a white man in the film, he might have been worshiped as someone with heavenly powers that can do miracles like Jesus (who I doubt was white),
