Have you ever been discriminated by something you have no control of, your own race. Many people face different types of discrimination on a daily, but race discrimination is onto a whole other level. In “Discrimination in the 21st Century”, by Victoria Johnson, the author talks about discrimination towards people in wheelchairs. Johnson goes on describing her personal experiences because she herself uses an electrical wheelchair. Johnson’s reasoning is that many people face issues with personal relationships, transportation options, and public venues. Just how Johnson was discriminated by being disabled, people are also discriminated by their race. Racial discrimination is prominent today at work, in politics, and in stereotyping.
Racial discrimination is seen in many areas, particularly at work. It is difficult to find a job that meets the criteria most people are looking for. In many cases it does not help when people feel that they are not being treated equally with the process. It is easy to see how people get discriminated at work. Maybe a specific employee is getting a better raise than another employee, or two job seekers applied for the same job with the same experiences but just one thing sets them apart, and that is their race. In many countries, leaders are in a much higher rank than other civilians. Certain groups of people are not the race that others want. These other groups with higher ranks will absolutely tend to discriminate the smaller, more vulnerable. Take North Korea for example, a very strict country with strong rules, they would not just let any random person off the street to rule the country of North Korea. Same thing with presidents, certain people may discriminate an individual who is running in an election, whose race is not normally seen in a position of power.
