Discrimination; the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age or sex. Discrimination is something that humans face every day and unfortunately for some the discrimination against them will never end as long as they are breathing just because they are a different race, different age or different gender. It’s pathetic how it is almost the year 2020 and people are still racist, sexist, misogynist, homophobic pieces of shit. Some of us may never know what being discriminated is because we are lucky enough or in other words, ‘privileged ' or we may have to deal with it in one way or another because we ‘deserve’ it. Another thing that some people …show more content…
The LGBT community would not be as accepted as it is now if the Stone Wall riots did not happen and we would still be living in the wonderful but extremely prejudice 1950s/1960s if it was not for Martin Luther King. Men like David’s father, who try to justify their actions with the word of God are what is wrong with society today, not people that are considered weird for being different. If the chrysalids happened in real life I would either be living in the Fringes right now or I would be super dead. A saying that is used a lot throughout our childhood is ‘if ____ jumped off a bridge would you do it too?’ and people that justify their words and actions by saying; ‘God told me to do it’ should ask themselves if God told them to kill themselves, would they be stupid enough to do it too? Most of them would probably say yes and that is absolutely ridiculous. The Chrysalid had an important message in it and that was; even if you do get discriminated against for being different, there is someone out there that knows exactly how you’re feeling and when you get down on yourself you have to remember that or else you’ll feel lonely and desperate for acceptance from God. At one point in the book, David was practically begging for acceptance from God and for his telepathy to go away but his Uncle reminded him about how he should be …show more content…
I could go on about how terrible discrimination is for hours and hours but sadly this is only a five paragraph essay not a ten paragraph one. To basically close off what I started with I would like to make a few more statements about discrimination in our present day/time. For starters I would like to look back onto something that our new leader is doing for sadly what is the first time in Canada. Trudeau is recognizing what our native people have done for our country and he is finally letting them get a say in what happens to their land. Our old leader, Stephen Harper barely even payed attention to them and did not care about any of the missing aboriginal women and children in our country. What I do not understand is the fact that Trudeau gets discriminated against for doing things quicker than what Harper could do. What Trudeau has done for this country in less than 3 months, Harper couldn’t even do in 6 years and that is mind blowing. If you do not like the way that he is running our country just wait until my generation gets in power because we are the only ones that strive to make an actual difference/change around the
