Conformity engaging in discriminatory behavior because others in your group are doing so, usually for approval or to be likes others. Ethnocentrism is the belief of superiority is one 's personal ethnic group, but it can also develop from racial or religious differences. Ethnocentric individuals believe that they are better than other individuals for reasons based solely on their heritage. I recently went to Romania for a span of one month. Once I landed in the airport, everything felt so different and I was definitely out of my comfort zone even though I lived there for 9 years. Since I lived in Chicago most of my life span, I grew accustomed with the cultural norm in the States. Everything seemed upside down in Romania and it took me a while to adjust to their culture norms. Because I was educated and went there open minded, the challenge was not that great to adjust and accept the ways of others. Once I returned back to Chicago, I looked at things differently with more of an appreciation. I believe every person should experience the ways of other before judging one another. It is easy to become prejudice and discriminate each other without knowing where each person came from and how they were
