I understand religion is a big part of the argument. I mean, In a nation where 70.6% of the population believes in a religion deeming gay men and women sinful by nature, it's not surprising. They believe a child exposed to the "evils" of homosexuality will mature into a "corrupted" and "sinful" adult. However, despite the numerous times this argument comes up, there is no evidence supporting it. In fact, here are numerous studies reporting little, if any, divergence between a child raised by a gay couple and a child raised by a straight couple. Furthermore, the claim a child will "turn gay" if raised by a gay couple is not only false but also illogical. While scientists do not know the exact cause of sexuality (though genetics and hormones are thought to play a role), there is no substantial evidence for environmental factors playing a significant role in sexual orientation development.
