Discrete Behavior Observation

Decent Essays
The particular discrete behavior I chose to observe is when my co-worker tucks her hair behind her ear for my observation. I think the value of this behavioral observation was that it was something i never did before and it was a fun experience. We don't realize that we do things that we are unaware of until someone points it out to us. During my observation i noticed that when my co-worker would tuck her hair behind her it would be easy.

Psych Exam 3 The most recent chapter we read, chapter 15, was the one I was waiting to read all semester long. I find psychological disorders incredibly interesting and think that everybody should educate themselves about them on a basic level to end the stigmas attached to these types of disorders. I learned something new in every single section of chapter 15. Section one taught me about the six areas of identifying abnormal behaviors, that one in four adults in America are diagnosed with a psychological disorder every year, and about the Multiaxial DSM System.…

Masters and Johnson were able to observe and record compared to relying on subjective reports of past experiences from their participants. One disadvantage however, was that if there was an influence on the participant’s behavior by having an observer. In the article “How do you learn to walk? Thousands of steps and dozens of falls per day”, experimental research was done to find an answer to how infants learn to walk. Previous research was conducted on this topic, but it did not show anything about how much or how far infants walk, how often they fall, what makes them continue walking after falling, and how these abilities change with development. Researchers have simply focused on the structure of postures from a crawling to an upright walking position and the regular steps of infants on open grounds where they have to use natural locomotion, or the natural ability to move. This process is known as periodic gait.…

Rough Draft Vincent Canby once said “Good fiction reveals feeling, refines events, locates importance and, though it's methods are mysterious as they are varied, intensifies the experience of living our lives” While non-fiction books deal with things that have actually occurred, fiction books allow us to go in depth of what is being read and journey into a greater world and find the deeper meaning along with looking for issues that have occurred within society. The novel “Highly Illogical Behavior” by John Corey Whaley deals with a kid named Solomon Reed, who suffers from agoraphobia which causes him to get panic attacks when he leaves the house. He hasn't made any contact with other people except for his mother, father and grandmother and it…

I have loved every moment spent at my site these past 8 weeks and look forward to the weeks ahead. I am observing at the first Pre-K in the district that I graduated from. The school and classroom is very welcoming, I have enjoyed getting to know all 16 of the children, seeing their shyness slip away and their personalities come out. Being able to be apart of the children’s day once a week has taught me so much about how a public school is ran and especially the Pre-K. The teacher and Ed tech have shared so much insightful information with me about classrooms and working with 4 and 5 year olds.…

Observational Study of Infant and Caregiver An observational study is a form of naturalistic observation, “in which some naturally occurring behavior is observed without intervention in the situation” (Feldman, R.S., 2015, p. 27). For about an hour, from 15:00 to 16:00, the observer followed this mother and child throughout the store.…

Observational method is as clear as it sounds. Children learn from what they observe. Since adults are the “role models” in a child’s eyes, they normally presume that every single act from an adult is correct or normal. When I was a kid, I was very curious like all the other kids. Whenever I go with my mother inside the ladies’ room, I would see pretty young professionals putting on some make-up, lipstick and other beauty products.…

Observational Learning There are a few different types of ways of learning. Some types of learning may require reinforcement, but observational learning also referred to as social learning has no evident prior reinforcement (Feldman, 2013). Observational learning involves observing someone else’s behavior and learning from or mimicking the persons or models behavior in short, it is learning through modeling (Feldman, 2013). Observational behavior is a social phenomenon, looked at by psychologists Albert Bandura as a social cognitive approach to learning (Feldman, 2013).…
