Discovery Team Reflection

The discovery team project overall was a good experience and I will try to take something that I learned from it with me for future team projects. Three insights that I learned from this activity are utilizing all commuctaion technogly that are available, the need for leadership, and that a team without conflict seems that the members are not invested in the project. The discover team that I was on only used one way to communicate. It ended up being slow and not a lot of involvement. There was not anyone that took a strong leadership role in the team. I feel that without the leadership role, people were not putting as much into the project as they should. There was not any conflict in this team, it made it seem that people did not care about how the project was going to come out.
The first insight that I gained from this team experience is the importance of utilizing more than one communication method. The team that I was on completed the assign, ent and received full credit whuch I was very satisfied

Levi says that conflict is a normal part of a team, but the discovery team that I was on did not have any. It seemed that our team went from the forming stage to the adjourning stages without anything in the middle. The team finished the assignment on time and got full credit, but it was probably due to only a few of the individuals in the team. like I brought up before, there was not a lot of communication in between the team members. The communication was simple and slow. It would take a few days to get a response and the team members were just being polite to each other. I was surprised that the one person that tried to take the leadership role in the group did not cause some conflict because they seemed like they wanted everyone to be more involved then they were. I had been in a few group projects before this one, so I was not surprised at the lact of effort coming from

I feel as if the group project could have been done a lot better I felt as there was more of a focus on getting to know one another rather than focusing on the assessment. Currently I am not as confident on working with individuals that I don’t know so well as I was when we first started as I realized not everyone in the group had the same approach towards the task as I did especially in terms of prioritization despite this I believe I am more confident in showing leadership as Staci and Emily had other commitments I attempted to accommodate for this by contacting them and working out times when they were both free I believe this was a positive thing as normally in group assessments I have a tendency to rely on other people to make decisions like this and it was a positive experience delegating rather than receiving tasks. Overall working with Staci and Emily was fine as I have a more passive personality in group assignments it was a good learning experience for me a study has also shown that working as group positively influences and facilitates an exchange of knowledge(Shaw, Mitchell and Del Fabbro, 2015) this definitely occurred during our group work when it came to elaborating on social determinants I was able to help both Staci and Emily better understand them while Staci assisted me in learning about the stream factors overall I believe we compensated very well for each other’s gaps of knowledge . On the other side of the spectrum our fourth member Louis was difficult to work with as he contacted us the weekend before the assignment was actually ready to present and this caused a lot of stress and panic, after talking to Emily and Staci they definitely felt the same way about the situation with…

Having said that there was also no 'social loafing ' within my team, as Latane et al., 1979 argued was a problem in teams, whereby people were louder individually than they were in groups (chapter 6, pg. 180). Rather I felt that everyone had an equal…

We all tried, but I think some of us took the project more seriously than others. Kevin was always late to our meetings event though when we created the team contract we agreed to be punctual unless there was an emergency. I doubt that there was an emergency every single week when we met. I think Amy and myself did most of the work, we had to assign work for Kevin and Shaohui to do otherwise they would not take the initiative to do something unless we asked them to do it which was frustrating because Kevin was supposed to be the project manager and it was his responsibility to make sure that we were doing our part and being the leader of the team. I am not saying that it was all his responsibility because we are all adults and can do our part, but what I am saying is that they were not behaving as adults.…
