According to the article Discovering Your Authentic Leadership, “Discovering your authentic leadership requires a commitment of discovering yourself.” An authentic leader does not follow the same path as her predecessor, instead she discovers her own path through life experiences that molds her true self. Her true self never changes, but it is developed and molded by extrinsic influences, such as uncontrollable circumstance, predecessors or support group. We are constantly developing and growing, but we never fully change our identity.
“The reality is that people learn and change who they are through experience. An authentic leader is willing to change their behavior or experiment with different identities in order to grow as a leader.
