“Discovering Success as an Online student,” By Jessica Glaze Becoming an online student is not always an easy decision, but sometimes the best decision. Many people have very busy lives such as having a family, full-time job and/or other priorities. Taking online classes was the best choice for me because family and a full-time job required majority of my time. I have been initially a traditional student, so I became accustomed to a classroom setting. Within making that tough decision, I did not know that my approach to learning needed to be different from a traditional student. Like majority of college students, I was nervous and hesitant to take online classes. I had doubts that I wouldn’t be disciplined enough or have motivation to …show more content…
I had to learn that it is not sapient to wait until the last minute to do my assignments. Students must prepare for technical difficulties, such as backing up files ("Online Learning"). You never know what may happen right before the assignment is due. I would say to also save your work as you go, there have been many times that I lost work due to a power outage. Preparation also helped me with getting work done early and having more free time on my hands. Great preparation sanctioned me to develop good habits for online learning. I was able to keep track of want I needed to work on and what I was proficiently adept at by preparing. When I first starting taking online classes I was a full-time student, which was a huge mistake. I didn’t know what precisely I was getting myself into. I failed my first semester of online classes because I had no clue how to navigate the system. In my opinion, taking four classes, having children, and working a full-time job was not a bright idea. My second time around I knew that I had to decelerate it and take one class at a time just to get my feet wet so that I could fully comprehend exactly how this online stuff work. According to "Online Learning", Focusing and taking one step at a time is best then accomplishing things all at once (ENGL 1101). I had to learn the online system, which was completely different from learning on campus. I had to learn to never overlook my resources. There are plenty of resources giving to students by their instructor as well as on the school website. I also utilized my associates around me and “YouTube”. I learned that asking around for help, especially from those who have culminated college, can be an implement within itself. Additionally, “YouTube” is a great resource for students that are visual learns. I would verbalize that it availed me out a great deal with searching for several of the topics. There are
