Now Discover Your Strengths; an excellent book about figuring out ways to improve yourself and to appreciate your weaknesses positively, helped me to improve myself in many ways. This book, written by Marcus Buckingham and Donald O. Clifton focuses on your strengths and how you can maintain them as well as helps you figure out what your weaknesses are and how you should improve yet value them because they are a part of you. Promptly after reading this, I came to the realization on how I can apply the knowledge acquired from this book into my life.

To begin with, I read through the book marking all the significant passages. Things such as key concepts and such. A quote I believe best summed up the point of view of the authors was “... the

I agree with the mentality this book is based off. After reading this outstanding book I began to think on how I could apply the new information I got to my life. Academically speaking, this book made me realize that it's okay to not be good at something. For example, I hate math with all my heart and I would be embarrassed for disliking the subject so profoundly. I considered it a flaw of mine until I read a line that impacted me deeply. “Each person’s strengths are createdーdeveloped from some very specific raw materials.” (Page 40). In my personal life, such as with family or friends I applied what I learned after reading this book. According to a Strengths Finder quiz the book came with I found out my highest scoring characteristics are Empathy, Strategic and the ability to Win Others Over. I noticed this was accurate because I am very social, very friendly, and simply make friends easily. My lowest score was Trust, it was correct because I have difficulty opening up sometimes. Thanks to this wonderful book, I am now relaxing more knowing a couple techniques to deal with trust issues as well as ways to enhance my strong skills. All this is applied into my everyday life now because I am now seeing a great change in my relationships with people. I am not as self concious about my thoughts on math and I am beginning to notice I am trusting more and allowing people into my life more than I ever have before. Although I am fixing my weaker strengths, I am also focused on enhancing my already strong ones to make sure they stay as strong as this book made me believed. Applying skills such as strategic into my education has made a difference because I stopped procrastinating as much and found my learning style. This book made a major impact in my

Upon completing the StrengthsFinder survey, it is determined my 5 greatest strengths are the learner, achiever, competition, strategic, and relator, all of which I expected (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006). While reading the text I examined the various themes of different strengths, relating closely to the 5 assigned by the survey, I am impressed by how well the explanations were written in the book, Strengths Quest Second Edition. The text in correlation with the materials provided from the StrengthsFinder survey brought forth meaning and depth into finding out exactly the type of person I am. Learning is listed as my top strength in the survey (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006). I believe I have used that trait extensively throughout…
