Discoloration Of Teeth Essay

People can stain their teeth in more ways than one. A big silent killer is drinking anything that is highly acidic. According to Professor Laurence Walsh, some highly acidic drinks, like orange juice, can do more damage to teeth than soft drinks.
Soft drinks and citric juices are the top contenders in dental erosion. The reason being there are acids contained in these drinks that dissolve any hard surfaces of the teeth that are exposed, such as the enamel. If the protective enamel is gone, the inner part of the teeth are left exposed. This leads to sensitivity. Also, not only can these acids dissolve outer surfaces, it can also damage the internal parts of one’s teeth; thus leading to the saliva’s ability to repair the teeth weakened.
Citric, phosphoric, and tartaric acid all contribute to dental erosion if someone were to drink soda or citric juice. All three can damage and all three can certainly lead to discoloration of teeth.

Teeth can still get stained if someone were to avoid anything that is not water and wait an hour or two to brush their teeth. Dental erosion just allows the teeth to be stained faster due to the dentin being exposed.
Wine may have really nice benefits for your body, like relaxation and benefits for one’s heart, but wine has no benefits whatsoever for the teeth. However, anthocyanin has also been proved to be quite beneficial to the human body. Berries, slushies, popsicles, citric drinks, or anything dark and rich in color can stain teeth, and the possibility of anthocyanin being present in these products are

When acid rain falls on water, it causes the water to absorb the aluminum, turning the entire body of water acidic which then makes it's way to the soil and the streams where animals, marine and terrestrial, can get poisoned by the acidic water. On mountains, the acid can take effect on the trees which then won't be able to get enough water as the aluminum makes it's way underground and into the roots ("Acid Rain Facts, Acid Rain Information, Acid Rain Pictures, Acid Rain Effects - National Geographic"). As one can see, acid can affect any kind of liquid, even the water, but what about the drinks that us humans…

Toothbrushes and regular trips to the dentist didn't exist in the 1600's, and Shakespeare once wrote, "Her break stinks with eating toasted cheese" (Mortimer 245). People did try to clean their teeth, but they had very different ways of doing it. One option was to pick them with a piece of quill or wood. You could also remove plaque with a “tooth cloth” made of wet linen (Mortimer 245). It was recommended to clean your mouth every day with water or homemade mouthwash.…

The line graph demonstrates the acid level in mouth when three different kinds of sweets are eaten, Cane sugar, fruit sugar, or honey. When the acid level signified by (ph) becomes over 5.5 tooth decay is unlikely to happen, yet when the (ph level) is less than 5.5, the tooth is in risk of decay. In the beginning, when any of the three sweets is eaten, the PH level starts with 7. Noticeably, cane sugar is the most likely to cause tooth decay, where it declines to the lowest level 3.5 after 5 minutes from eating this sugar, and then increases steadily to reach 4.5 Ph level at the 15 minutes, and then continues its increase to cross the 5.5 after about 30 minutes.…
