Spanking has both is supporters and those who are against it. Corporal punishment (CP) is defined as hitting or spanking a child with the intention of causing a child to experience pain, but not injury, for the purpose of correcting or controlling a child’s behavior. Studies have shown that a correlation between CP and poor health outcomes and aggression. Something that I learn from the book that by age 14, there is a 94% chance that they have been spanked (McCoy & Keen, 2014). I am surprised at how high this number is, especially by the age 14. It just does not make sense to me why parents would want to spanking their kid. There are so many other ways to discipline your child, such as grounding them or time outs. There is never a good enough reason to hit your child.…

Parents have to be cautious when disciplining their children to avoid trouble. Unfortunately, there is not a set behavior that warrants a spanking. Some sources say that it is okay to spank because it aids in building a strong relationship of respect with the parent and child, and it results in well-mannered children and adults. Parents also say that it is normal to spank children and that it is just disciplinary actions (“The Spanking Debate” 1).…

This is the reason why spanking is not looked down on harshly. Almost everyone has been spanked but only when it was deserved. Likewise the parent is most of the time not trying to injure the child; they are simply trying to teach a lesson by causing the child minor pain or uncomfort. The problem with spanking is that it does emotional damage. Kids that were regularly physical punished where more likely to have depression, substance abuse, and other mental problems.…

One thing a parent has to know is that he or she should not go overboard while spanking their child. Spanking a child set a level of respect because it puts more authority into the parent child relationship. Second, if parents were to spank their children it could stop them from doing something dangerous. A spanking can alert the child to avoid dangerous situations.…

Another piece of information to prove my points is “ In 2014 according to a nationally state survey, 76% of men, and 65% of a women agreed that a child need a good, hard whooping” (“Attitude Towards Spanking” paragraph 2). This piece of evidence is showing that in order to do good parenting, you have to spank your kids. These results show that this is the best way. Instead, they can become spoiled. All my points show that parents see results in…

There is a difference between spanking and abuse. Kids need to be disciplined, have respect for people, they need to go down the right road in life. Some kids want everything but they can't have everything they want that would be a spoiled kid, and spanking works the best for some kids. Parents should be allowed to spank their kids!…

Spanking Children and It’s Problem “Why and How I Created My Visual Argument: Don’t Hit Me,” speaks on the use of spankings as a disciplinary action against children by parents or caretakers. The argument that spanking children is either good or bad has been up for debate for a long time. The author, Bernadette D. Holt, believes that there is absolutely no good to come from it. She explains how spanking is a show of love through violence and how that is a misconception of appropriate discipline for a young child. Holt’s essay is essentially to explain to parents why spanking their children is a negative action against the child through discussion and a visual argument.…

There have been many discussions on spanking. On one side of the debate are the parents who believe in spanking their children. On the other side are those who think that children should never be spanked. The problem with spanking is that each group defines spanking differently. Some believe spanking is a form of abuse, while others think it is a form of discipline.…

A simple punch on the arm, a hard slap to the face, a severe whip with the belt, what exactly is considered too far? Most families were raised with being hit, however not all, so therefore others consider that abuse. But, is discipline really abuse? I currently work in childcare. I have firsthand experience with children who have been disciplined and those who have not been disciplined. There is a night and day difference in their behavior. The children who are punished for misbehaving are significantly more respectful, get along better with their peers and are better behaved compared to those who are not disciplined. The children who are not punished for bad behavior are more likely to back talk, do not get along as well with their peers and do not respond as well to authority figures.…

On a survey ran by America Psychological Association (APA), two-thirds of the US population still approves of spanking their children as a form of punishment.
