Disciplinary Writing Analysis: Cruise Lines and Hospitality/Tourism
Have you ever wanted to better understand why a paper or article was written? If so you have come to the right place! There are many different journals out there for each business field; the two articles that were selected are from two well known trade journals within the Hospitality and Tourism Management field the Worldwide Hospitality and Tourism, and the Journal of Tourism Challenges and Trends. Both articles are about Cruise Line tourism in the field and how it is an up and coming phenomenon in the industry.
“Framing Cruise Tourism” by Alexandra Zbuchea, is from Journal of Tourism Challenges and Trends. The article goes into explaining how numbers have changed in the …show more content…
In this case the running heading is switching between either the Authors name or the title of the article. Normally, any APA writing has a cover page to the writing but because this article was published in an academic journal the cover page was left off. Throughout the article the author uses logos to talk about data found, numbers, facts, and figures such as graphs and charts. The article has a clear opening with the abstract and closing with the conclusion of the paper, uses references from other studies to prove a point; for example in the article the author uses a lot of information from the World Tourism Organization also known as to professionals as WTO or UNWTO (Zbuchea). Zbuchea uses facts such as using the set of their typology of the tourism that is divided into three different forms: inbound tourism which is when non-residents visit a different country, outbound tourism is when someone leaves their country to visit another and the last main type is domestic which simplify means you only travel within your country.

One of the main difference that can be seen right away is in the abstract for “The Future of Tourism in an Emerging Economy: The Reality of the Cruise Industry in Caribbean”, the abstract is divided into different headings for things such as the purpose, keywords, the design of the research and it’s findings all found in bold print making it easier to find things and tell them apart. In “Framing Cruise Tourism” it still has the keywords in bold that’s the only thing in bold. The abstract still has all the things needed like the purpose and design just not as listed out. Another difference in between the two that is pretty big the in “Framing Cruise Tourism” it has multiple different types of graphs to show information such as a line graph, bar graph and pie graph along with a word map of things that deal with cruise tourism. The only type of visual aid given in the “The Future of Tourism in an Emerging Economy: The Reality of the Cruise Industry in Caribbean” is only one table that is a little confusing and
