In chapter 4 of “The Messy Quest”, Stephen Martin taught me that you have to work for what you want in your life, or else it may fade away. If you don’t practice what you love to do, then how will you ever pursue your dreams? How will you ever realize your desire or your calling? After thinking about it, it makes me wonder the ways in which I can practice. However, no matter what I do, I need to remember to never give up, because then there will be an empty space in my heart. It was pointed out in the chapter that Mother Theresa showed us to never give up, because even though she doubted God, she kept praying and ended up becoming one of the most well-known religious influencers of our day. This is important to remember because her passion helped others become faithful individuals, and in the same way, my passion could help others lead better lives, too. This also reminds me of an example that was brought up in contemplative prayer, in that “if you become distracted 200 times, it doesn’t matter, because all that means is that you came back to God 200 times, and that is love and desire”.
