Children Are Being Casteed Out Essay

Improved Essays
Did I or agree or disagree? I disagree with bullying on any and every level. Children are being casted out, because of the way that they look. And that’s from all walks of life. That is very sad from a worldly perspective. I was very surprised that the young man from Sioux City, Iowa, with 4 siblings and two parents didn’t have any friends at his school. That has to be very lonely. We are not designed to live in isolation in this world as human beings. Everybody in his class had at least 2 friends that they socialized with. I was disappointed that once he was on the bus they cussed, punched, threatened him and there was no adult other than the bus driver on the bus to police the children. Absolutely no one they had to answer to for their actions. No one sat next to him on the bus unless they were doing harm to him via verbally or physically. Before the end of the time of Alex telling his story, he said, “He believes he belongs somewhere else”. That was a cry for help! The Assistant Principal was talking to a young man and she asked him what was said about him from someone else. The boy said, “the boy called him a faggot and that breaks his heart.” That is so sad this child couldn’t be call by his name instead of a name created by someone else for him that is ugly and destructive. The most schools don’t have anything in place for bullies in their schools and districts. The schools tell you they are going to take care of the situation and they do nothing! That is very discouraging for parents who think that they transition they kids off to an establishment who is careless and complacent in the rules and policies to protect our children in an environment for them to learn and develop. I think there needs to be a nationwide process or chain of command in place for all schools for bullying. I also think that the churches, schools, businesses, communities, and homes should be working together to stop bullying,

Finally, the impact of this social issue on a macro level is based on federal and state laws. Governmental policies are less inclusive to perpetuate the message of bullying and are often identified as harassment, stalking or assault. Presently, there are no federal anti-bullying laws, though bullies have been prosecuted through civil rights and hate crimes https://prezi.com/5wjkiitgbflr/copy-of-bullying/). Is school a safe and secure place for every child? Lynda Barry, author of “The Sanctuary of School” believed that school was a diversion from the realities in her life. It was a place where she could truly be herself, a place where she felt she was wanted. Although, school can be a safe haven for some children, it can also be a nightmare for others. While interpreting Barry’s needs for children to be able to attend school, the question to inquire is if public school is the ideal environment for every child.…

I feel that schools should enforce a no tolerance bullying campaign that in which if students are found bullying another through any form of medium, they must then go to the school councilor to address the issue as well as get parents involved. By doing so students will be able to address problems fully with a professional and this professional can scaffold proper behavior. Furthermore, I believe that every school should help kids build confidence in the classrooms, so that even if they are bullied, the effect of it will be less because of their high efficacy. Additionally, I like the idea of getting parents involved in two ways. One would be at the school in which when a student is caught bullying or is victimized, the parent is made aware and then can further address and discuss this issue with their child.…

Bullying is a matter that no one should take lightly especially in areas it occurs the most like in schools. While many of these institutions have applied policies against bullying, there are still many instances documented where a student has suffered mental, emotional, or physical abuse by the hands of another student. Many of the children that partake in this particular behavior have no idea what kind of consequences their actions will have or either do not care. It is the education system’s job to teach and show students that bullying can be detrimental to someone’s life and that they will have no tolerance towards the issue. Schools should take a stricter approach to occurrences involving bullying and have the punishments clearly outlined…
