Women go though so much their lives, and having a difficult time getting a job is a major thing that women can deal with. When a woman wants to go into the construction field, they face a lot of roadblocks. Women have a very difficult time working in the construction field because there are only a small amount of them and they are at a great disadvantage in this line of work, but there is some positive outlook for women construction workers for the future. There is a very small amount of women involved the in construction industry. There is an even smaller amount of women who actually do the construction work. The number of correctional officer positions and female firefighters has grown substantially in the past thirty years, whereas the number of women in construction has stayed almost the same. Reports have shown the women make up one percent of the 1.4 million carpenters(Still). Nice percent of the construction workforce is made up by women. In 2010, 800,000 women worked in construction type jobs(managerial, administrative, production employees). Statistics from that year stated that around 200,000 women were in production occupations, laborers, electricians, plumbers, ect. From 2007 to 2010, 2.5 million construction jobs were lost. During that same time period, 300,000 women had to leave the construction field. That major loss of jobs deterred women from joining the field(Women). Even though there is a small amount of women who work in construction, those few women are at a great disadvantage. The disadvantage that women face when it comes to working and making money is tremendous. One in four jobs are male-dominated, and it has been found that the average male-dominated jobs will earn about thirty percent more than the average female-dominated job. It has been proven that 2/3 of all women who are in the workforce are in only five percent of all careers there are. It has been shown that ninety percent of childcare workers and people who prepare food are women, and they are known to pay lower(Hockenberry). There are
