We Gain from Vegan
The term ‘vegan’ is a noun which refers to person who does not eat or use any animal products. So apart from being vegetarians, vegans do not use a range of products- from cheese to honey and from wool to leather. A vegan diet contains food only from plants and their derivatives. This includes fruits, vegetables, grains and nuts. For numerous reasons, a vegan diet is the best diet for all to follow.
Many vegans choose this alternative simply because they wish to promote a healthy lifestyle. The health benefits of being a vegan are multifold. Studies of human evolution have showcased that our predecessors were vegetarian by nature. This is suggested by the length of our intestine which resembles that of a herbivore rather than a carnivore. Thus, the risks posed by the consumption of meat are very high because our bodily structure isn’t designed for it. Moreover, the cholesterol and saturated fat contained in meat create cardiovascular problems whereas the urokinase protein and urea adds to the burden on the kidney.

Meat-eaters are generally unaware of the amounts of resources which go into the making of a single unit of their delicacies. Researchers estimate that cattle-based food production causes about one-fifth of all global greenhouse gas emission. Cows are one of the largest contributors to the emission of greenhouse gases such as methane. It also drains up resources such as land and water as these are commodities which are naturally needed for animal-rearing.
