By analyzing the data, the study showed that even though 14 percent of the comparison produced a negative effect of direct instruction, 53 percent of the measures significantly favor direct instruction with an average magnitude of effect of .84 standard deviation units (White, 1988). Teachers in this program integrated creative drama with ELL learners in English Language Arts classroom. Brouillette interviewed 24 teachers who participated in this study and got feedbacks from them. Through teachers’ description of the impact of drama-based lessons, Brouillette (2012) concluded that integrating creative drama lessons significantly motivated ELL learners because it provided them opportunities to engage in interaction with teachers and peers.
