Military style training is needed in our society. Training police officers in this manner has benefits for both the officer and the community. The military produces soldiers that are physically fit, mentally prepared for stressful situations, and educated on the level of enforcement needed in a given situation. Police officers encounter stressful situations every day. Officers are also given broad latitude when dealing with citizens. The individual officer selects which laws to enforce and the level of force needed in a given situation (Bohm & Haley, 2012). Many of our communities have seen significant increases in crime.
